How much is it normally?

Could be genuine.  Ebay shops don't need to pay rent, wages, or bills, so can use the 'big volume, sell cheap' sales method.

It's hard to tell if anything is genuine these days.

looks genuine to me.

Are you a member of Costco? They usually stock the 4L bottles for around £25.

No I'm not a member Rich. Sister is so I may ask her to take me there next time. I've gone for the one off EBay now. The service is due but at that price I may as well do the oil change part myself to save me some money

Hmmm, I am about to but some oil for my 05 GTi but had been advised to go for 5W-30.  Should I be going for 5W-40 instead?  If so this seems a great deal.

I would recommend 5w40 for mapped cars. Stock 5w30.

Although I run 5w30 in the winter and 5w40 in the summer due to the heat. I do 2 oil changes a year.

In the winter I usually poodle around like miss daisy due to ice and rain etc.

Worth clarifying VW's official guidelines:

Variable servicing = 5W30 longlife
Fixed servicing = 5W40

The general rule of thumb with these engines is, if it's using a bit of oil, mapped or standard, try 5W40 as it's a bit thicker when hot, which can reduce oil consumption.  If consumption isn't a problem, you can stick with 5W30.

Fuchs Titan Pro Race S and Millers Nanodrive 5W40 both usually reduce consumption quite a bit.

If the engine is a bit tappy for a few seconds after a cold start, try a 0W30 or 40.

You cant take the ECP price as a serious price..... The ECP price is basically the price coupled with the current sale/discount code that's on at the time. Its never a sale as the price changes every time the discount changes and you end up with the same price as other retailers

TFSI engines take 4.7l I think so you'll have to buy another litre if you're doing an oil change. That's why I buy the 5l Quantum bottle from VW dealers.

+1 on the Quantum, VW dealer spec oil going for silly prices on eBay!  :happy2:

Well I still have a couple of litres of oil left over so I should have plenty thanks to the mistake ECP made a few months back. I ordered 1 litre of Castrol Edge online to pick up in store. I paid I think £13 and the girl went off to get the oil and came back with the 4 litre one by mistake! Needless to say I grabbed It and ran out of the shop lol

Is the quantum oil any good?? That's a brilliant price!

It's a long standing belief within VW circles that Quantum is rebranded Castrol, but without lab analysis, we can't be certain.

It's a perfectly decent oil.  All oils have to pass certain standards, which is passes. If it was shat, VW wouldn't sell / specify it.  It was the standard dealer oil a long time ago before it got farmed out to TPS etc.  Unless you specifically want to try an Ester oil like Fuchs or Motul, or an oil with anti-friction additives like Nano Drive, there's no need to stray from what you've been using. An engine is happy just so long as it has something slippery in it's guts.  It really doesn't care to be honest.
