Brakes - What Discs and Pads (Stock)
« on: January 20, 2017, 08:09:42 am »
I am looking to change my pads and discs on my mk5 GTI in the next few months as I think they are starting to go. Anyone know a good combo of pads and discs for the stock mk5 GTI brakes? Thanks!!

I've recently replaced both front pads and discs for Pagid from ECP. Paid £107 for pads and discs.

Past: Edition 30 #1411, Tornado Red, Xenons, Revo Intake, H+R Springs, Highline, DSG,

Give your local TPS a call for a quote on OEM Pads and Discs. Even as a retail customer they tend to offer decent discounts!

Yeah OEM Pagid from ECP tick the boxes. They seem to constantly be having some sort of sale too. You can often pick things up with about 30% off.

Even better to look on carparts4less - same company just mail order only and usually cheaper too

Can't fault Pagid - used them for years

What's important is usage. As a 'fast road' or 'track' pad compound has a different temperature window you may find these may actually be worse if you only do the occasional sudden stop. If you really work your brakes hard and get some proper temperature (to the point where they start to fade and you lose confidence) then I would look to a fast road pad to go with the standard discs

I would say I need fast road pads as I do hit the limit of the pads quite a lot at the moment so tend to brake a lot earlier if I know the brakes are very hot :scared: any recommendations?
