Problem fitting a white mfa cluster to my mk5 tdi
« on: January 23, 2017, 10:51:00 am »
Hi lads.

I've recently tried to fit a white mfa Scirocco cluster to my MY2005 golf 2.0TDI.

Got the cluser coded to my car and all that you normal need to do before it works :) However, I'm still getting old kinds of faults in the cluster, no faults scanning with VCDS.

Read so far the problem is that my ABS electronic problely is to old! So my questions is if anyone heard about this problem before or maybe even fixed it?

Hope someone can help since I really want to swap my clusters out since almost all the light in the blue is out hehe.

You need a new ABS pump from a Golf mk6. That retrofit will require coding, new brake lines and adaptors. That requirement is easily found doing an online search and SI_R32 has the retrofit on his build thread, for example.

I'm pretty sure this will not require to change the whole pump, brake lines etc.... Maybe if you want the park assist you should change out the complete unit and all the brake lines etc etc.

I just need another electronic so that I won't get all kinds of errors to the cluster. I says errors like "Brake servo failure", "Hill assist failure" and a few other ones.

However I'm not sure which one of these I should get.
My current one is ending with "K".

I didn't write all the brake lines, but some are needed since the connections to the pump are different in the new pump version.

Only 2 brake lines are needed to be swapped. Both are for front wheels, as on MK60EC1 they are other way round.

You will also need a bracket for MK60EC1 pump from mk6 as MK5 doesn't fit.

Did this swap in my car when I was fitting color cluster. Not sure about Gateway as I fitted CH just before the swap.

Reason for a swap is that MK60EC1 does have different pin outs then MK60 (yes, you need to change pins in your plug as well)

Below how to connect new ESP.

My abs pump is the mk6ec1 one? Also therefore I think that I do not need to change nothing but the ECU for the ABS?

But thanks for good answers so far, glad that you guys had this problem before me, so that you can help me out - Much appreciated

Your pump is the older one: MK60. Good luck replacing just the pump's ECU...

I would be surprised if it is EC1 pump, but if you say so. As far as I know MK60EC1 been fitted in cars from 2009.

Just checked my old notes and I installed one with ending BE.

If you will looking or someone else to do it list of parts:
1K0907379BE - ABS / ESP Pumpt
1K2 614 235 C Pump bracket
1K0 614 235 D pump bracket
1K2 614 723 F Left side brake line
1k2 614 724 M Right side brake line

Ah just checked... I got the ESP FRONT MK60  0103 / 1K0 907 379 K

Must have seen wrong earlier today when I had the cable on.

Damn then I'll need to swap the whole thing as you guys said. Would it make sense to get the stuff so I can add Parking Assist now that I must change everything anyway?

My can is  7N0 907 530 AM and steering control module is 1K0 953 549 CH , these don't have to be upgraded to do they?

Yeah steering module is fine - same as mine, my  gateway is slightly newer but don;t think this should be an issue (I have AN version).

ABS/ESP pump - If you will buy same as my one, Park Assist will work on it.

You would need only parts from my previous post and brake fluid.

Remember that you will need to do a full brake bleeding using VCDS as pump will be dry.

Also remember about getting long coding for your pump. Think Eddie-NL can help.

My GT Sport has a MK60EC1 from factory because it's a MY2009 model that I bought in Nov/2008. It has an old pump (1K0 907 379 AD) so I can't activate XDS. I do have a friend that can update the firmware... One day, maybe. It's my wife's car.

Think ec1 pump was fitted from wk22 2008 if I remember correct. It's easier to say 2009 :)

Yes it does have HH and XDS. 1K0 907 379  AT or BE or BJ or BL can be used.

Have a look here. http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=82155.0
