SHOULD I BUY MY MK7 R LEASE CAR??
993BOY:
Hi Guys,
Just about come to the end of my lease contract on my 2015 R.
VW have offered to sell it to me for £20,451, just wondered what your thoughts are on the actual value??
It's a 5 door in Lapiz Blue in totally mint condition with what will be almost 20k miles when it is due back. Has the 5 spoke wheels and the only extras I paid for was the colour.
It has been a very reliable and pretty economical car, although a little safe and boring for me, as the car does everything to prevent you from killing yourself :happy2:
Not sure how much better these are with a decent map? are they much better?? my MK5 Pirelli is vastly better, and is totally transformed :driver:
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Nick
Do you think that they would go a bit lower if I pushed them, anyone with any experience on this??
pudding:
With the facelift due very soon, I'd be tempted to see what the next R is like and carry on with the leasing, unless of course you have a burning desire to own your current car :) There is merit in that, since you've had it from new and know it's not been smacked or abused.
How does £20K compare to the s/hand market for the same mileage and spec?
They are animals remapped. Around 380ish from software. More if you the relevant hardware changes!
CP-Performance:
I often wondered whether those who have leased the new R opted to buy them afterwards.
Personally, if you love the car, then buy it.
I would try and get the price a little lower though, with my crystal ball, I can't see residuals on the R being as strong as other R models of the past, due to the amount of people that got one because of the great lease deals on offer. I think the market place will be saturated in the near future with them and it will be everyone dropping the price to make theirs stand out to potential buyers, that will no doubt drive the price down of others on the market. (Hypothetically if you ever chose to sell in the near future after purchasing it).
bonelorry:
I wouldn't.
doylebros:
As a thought why don't you ask your local dealer to give you a price for buying it off you, implying you've been offered it cheap off your leasing company.
Your dealer might have an interest in it - he may even give you the VW to VW internal price if you ask - then you'll see what it's worth if he's not interested in it!
