Which Rods for Leon cupra (s3) ?

(1/1)

poko:
Hi,
I am in need of rods for my 2009 cupra.

as some of you may know the pin size is different from the normal GTI and it is 21mm.

after some massive searches , the only company i could find who makes them is ARROW but they are extremly expensive at over 800 pounds for just the rods.

My other option is to go for a IE/JE combo which would cost around 850$ , but i am really afraid of drop in pistons as well as the fact that it will lower compression a little more (9.5:1 compared to 9.8:1) which might ruin my tune.

someone also suggested that modding 1.8t rods might work.

anyone with any suggestion on this ?

revo carl:
1.8T rods will only work with forged pistons..... but as it stands i'm not 100% that anyone does a forged piston that matches the cupra/ed30/s3 CR.... JonnyC has been looking into it a lot recently so may have some input.

try speaking to THS, they should be able to develop something for you www.2.0tfsi.com

poko:
hi carl , thanks for the THS tip , will talk with them as well.

generally ... i thought revo have a cupra.

the pistons are forged in the cupra/s3/ed30 and different in pin size from the gti's (21 compared to 20).

i have also got a good offer from INA and posted it as a suggested group buy in the main forum.

as for JonnyC , i know what he got , but i won't post it since i don't know if he posted it yet.
i understand his reasoning , but i think it is not the right way to go , at-least for me.

revo carl:
we do have a cupra but running a stock motor with STG2+
