Mk6 GTI 3rd brake light replacement
« on: January 25, 2017, 09:27:42 pm »
Does anyone know if the third brake light unit is the same on the earlier MK6 models than on the Mk5 GTIs. Mine needs changing and want to follow the instructions on the forum below to save me having to take the spoiler off but need to know if it is the same or not. Mine does not have the metal clips like on the later mk6 golf gti models which have the updated brake light unit

Thanks in advance  :driver:,

Try swivel it from underneath as if you're flipping it under and use plenty of force. No not Star Wars Obie one the force will be with you  :signLOL:

The third brake light is now changed. Did it using the forum below. Was a bugger to do. But thank god its done. Advice- use long nose pliers to take the bolts out as opposed to using a screwdriver to pri them up like I did, there now in the spoiler somewhere. Hopefully they wont rattle!!

Part number for brake light unit without clips as shown in the PDF document below. This is used for the older mk6 golf gti models pre 06/2009 - 5K6 945 087 C
