I actually read your comment the other day about that Dan. I took extra time in checking that when i fastened it down. give it a good tugging (weyyyy) and it was solid. I will keep an eye on it in the next few weeks. Cheers for the heads up though. No biggie if it needs a washer, such an easy mod and love how it feels now!!

Side to side it will be as the splines hold it as you would expect. Unless they've changed the casting, which I highly doubt, then it will be loose regardless of how tight the nut is done up as the nut gets to the bottom of the thread on the gearbox before it makes good contact with the new short shift.

Its easy to check from the front of the car, grab the part closest to the front of the car and lift up vertically toward the bonnet, it will move  :happy2:

Just a little feedback on the ebay short shifter. Perfect fit, 20min job and feels lovely!! haha. Even the wife said 'eeeee it's just like our old DC2'. Well worth doing!!!!

What one did you go for?
