« on: January 30, 2017, 08:33:41 pm »
Hi folks,

Haven't had the chance to say hello and pop a thread up since making the purchase of my new GTI! Was initially looking for another R32 but ended up with a car that quite honestly was the complete and utter opposite of what I set out to buy...

Needless to say, absolutely love it - best car I've owned so far! I purchased it from this forum from a lovely chap called Carl (bigmig95) and it's a great example with a host of tasty modifications!

European Style Number Plate Surrounds

Wheels & Tyres:
Monza  2 18’’ Wheels, Refurbished in the Mk6 Style
Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Anyway, a few pictures..

Only modification I've carried out on her so far is the addition of my private plate and a trip up to Alex at AKS Tuning to get a fresh service sorted! - Working on it

Future plans:

Coilovers - DONE
Polybush all round
Anti Roll Bars

New rims (Need to decide on these)
Colour Coded Skirts

Xenon Upgrade
Mk6 Style Tail Lights - DONE

Sort the ICE:
Got a JL Audio Sub & Amp which i'll pair with some Hertz/Focal components up front

Needless to say, i'm looking forward to the summer!

Nice car mate..correct me if I'm wrong but the front splitter looks like a vortex one?

And the rear bumper looks like a Gti rear but colour coded?

Correct on both counts. Although it's spelt Votex

Nice spec this. There's probably not much left to do. Considering the BYD and diff though... maybe a TTE420/480 is an option if you ever want a bit more boost!?

Shows how much I know about the Mk5  :ashamed: Will update that!

Yeah, I did notice the TTE turbos but isn't at the forefront of my mine at the mo - needs to sit right first!

K04 has been fun so far, surprised some much more expensive cars

Gave her a quick clean this evening, not that it'll stay that way with this weather..

Developed a rubbing noise along with a really loud rattling sound whilst going over any speed bumps on the way to work today - thought the exhaust had fallen off!

Quick inspection around the car once I parked at work and discovered the rear brake shield was completely loose and rattling around next to the disc!  :stupid:

Decided to put my AA membership to use and gave them a call whilst I was at work and they came out and took it off for me whilst it was parked - well chuffed!

Found this once it had come off - all three screws at once? Going to remove the other one in the near future as it looks like it's a common problem after some Google searching! How important can they be anyway  :signLOL:

They're pointless. Mine are forever catching little stones/grit off the road, which get stuck against the disc. It makes a horrendous noise. They will be binned!

So... snapped a coil spring the day before Ultimate Dubs by sitting in the car and taking the handbrake off after she had been stood for 4-5 days!

One side of the car seems to be sat a lot lower than the other and it feels like the damper is permanently bottomed out!

On the positive side, it's given me a bit of a prod to get some coilovers and get her sitting nicely!

So off to Turner Race Developments on Monday to have these fitted and freshen up all the suspension components! Might also get some Super Pro bushes fitted to replace the tired old ones!

Did a bit of homework on various coilovers so hoping AP will be an okay choice! Excited to have it all fitted!
