The R32's do sound rather nice at mid throttle.  I wonder if the noise is more engine or exhaust side. I remember from my 5cyl Volvo S60R that the engine made the noise and the dual exhaust just added to the warble guess like the UR Quattro's.

Gorgeous noise.

A good 5 cyl can also sound just as good. @Panthera is right about the old Audi stuff. The 10 valvers seemed to make a more natural noise to me. One peach was the 2.2 10v KV. No blower, so slow as hell, but what a warble it made!

Engine gives the nice deep note and the exhaust gives the lovely warble least that's what I think

24Vs don't have any induction noise with the factory intake manifold, it's all exhaust noise.  The old 12V VR6 used to have a nice induction note!

Love the sound of these, Shame the performance isn't on par with the soundtrack!

Yeah.  Very strange engine.  Had a MK4 R32 and a MK5 R32 engine in a Corrado.  I thought with the Corrado being 200kg lighter than the donor car it would absolutely fly, but erm, not quite the reality.  A realisation hammered home to me when I struggled to get past a Civic Type R    My MK4 was barely any quicker than a MK5 TDI 170 in day to day driving.

A MK5 with DSG is like strawberries and cream though.  Works really well because of the bottom end grunt the R32 has.

Comparing to another 3.2 engine, say, the E46 M3.....the R32 is all over it up to 4000rpm, and then from there the Bimmer sprints off into the horizon.  If the R32 did up top what it does down below, it would be an epic engine, but the standard intake holds it back so much.

Indeed  :happy2:  So long as you're sensible with the boost and only use the best quality components.  I only say stuff like that from a long lifespan point of view.

Manual R32Ts like to shred 4th gear, DSG R32Ts like to eat clutch packs.  Big boost R32Ts like to spin rod bearings and even on mild boost, forging them isn't an option, it's essential!

So yeah, this is why a lot of Golf fans move onto a TFSI instead of turboing their R32.  Obscene money to do properly.  HGP are the only kits I consider to be close to factory quality.  HPA are pretty good, but they copied the HGP stuff originally.

Nice info

I always remember the old YT vid of the two Brits in a Z4/S2000/something similar doing 100mph+ on the Autobahn, then a black twin turbo mk4 pulls alongside then sprints away like they're stood still. That was HGP.

The 3.6 cars that HPA build sound mega too. Think it's HPA anyway... an American company. Think they put one in a mk6.

Found it....

Worth a watch if you've got ten minutes to kill!

Oh, and they're Canadian. Close enough

EDIT: There are also quite a few vids knocking about of 800+ HGP 3.6 cars too. If I had the money... wow. 6cyl turbo AWD just ticks all the boxes. Lovely stuff.

Sorry for the slight thread drift Andy!

It is a bit of a thread drift, but the TFSI's 6 cyl brother deserves a bit of attention  :happy2:

Yeah I saw that 700hp mentalist machine, and also that bonkers MK4   That is what I wanted to do to mine, but I cried into my cornflakes when I saw the price of the kits.

This is why I would only consider HGP.  The most OEM looking install out there.  Even down to the factory airbox.  I love OEM+ details like that. They only change what's needed.  No sales fluff or pissing about with stuff you don't need  :congrats:
