Aftermarket Head Unit

HiI have just bought a 2008 Golf GT sport, and would like to upgrade the head unit from the standard one (think it is the RCD300 that is in at the minute).

I have seen some pretty cheap ones on ebay that seem to have a lot of features.

Has anyone bought one of these? I know they are obviously not going to be as good as a branded one, but should the sound quality be better that the RDC300 that I have in at the minute?

Also, does anyone know how easy these are to install? Do they just go straight in? I only ask this as I have little to no knowledge when it comes to stuff like this!
