What's the size of the oil filter housing on the GTI? Is it 38 or 40mm? Any help appreciated

Par for the course with ebay shat

To be fair, I just shove an allen key into the orange nipple, lift it up and move it over so it rests on what ever is inside there, and wait for it to drain out.  No hardship really.  I just thought this gadget might speed the process up, but sounds like it's a more of a hindrance than a help!

Does the tube get air locked or something, or does the screw in bit just not lift the nipple up, or something?

Yeah it airlocks, 45 minutes waiting for it to drain, undo it and get covered in oil.

Maybe that's the problem it doesn't screw up enough to really push into the nipple, happened to me twice, so in the bin in went
