Lighting issues
« on: February 22, 2017, 05:37:47 pm »
Hi,

I've just bought a MK5 and a couple of lights aren't working, and was wondering if they are all run off the same fuse or an other issue causing this specific lights to fail.

The lights not working are:

  • Rear number plate lights
Front door panel lights (The red ones at the bottom of the door
Roof lining lights above the sun visors

Appreciate comments and thoughts.

Hi mate, the lights at the bottom of the doors, have you checked theres actually bulbs in there because I'm pretty sure they're just reflectors. They are on mine but know some people have out lights in them just wondering if you're aware?

Had the same issue when I bought mine and it was because the previous owner fitted cheap LEDs.   Ripped em out and put regular bulbs in and all good.

As above, the MK5 does not have lights in the door cards as standard (people retrofit them).   If you've come from a MK4 (which does have them), I can see why you would think the bulbs were blown!
