OK so im off to the shops and get 500 yards when i hear a metallic twonk - sounded like something metal fallen off within engine.
On the way back my revs are all over the place randomly (normally idles at 800 now 1000 and goes up of its own accord)
Via google many mentions of a vacuum problem.
Do you think a clamp coming off was the metallic twonk ?

Rev climbing on their own is a definite sign of an air leak, but the 'twonk'...erm....

One I had recently, the bolts on the PCV plate had come loose, thus breaking the gasket seal and causing an air leak...revs all over the place. Could a bolt have worked itself loose and fallen out? Long shot though!
