Turbo problems

Hi, been a member on this site for a while but this my first post!

I've owned my 2.0 mk5 for a year now and it has developed a turbo issue. Around Halloween last year my throttle body failed, resulting in the turbo cutting out when the revs got high. Replaced the body with a genuine new vw part, fixed the problem until recently.
Over the past couple of weeks, when I've been in 6th gear at 80mph the turbo will cut out, resembling the previous issue with the throttle body. Restarting the engine fixes this but it is really annoying. No error codes are showing and the car is well looked after, full history and serviced regularly. Bought it from an older man so people are just telling me its because it hasn't been "drove hard".

Any advice or what to check?

Checked your cam follower at all? Could be fuel cut from worn through follower

When you say no error codes are showing, is this through VCDS or another means?

General rule is that the proper VW diagnostics kit should pick up more than any generic tool. A general garage might only have a generic diagnostics tool. A decent specialist, or VW themselves, will have VCDS. A specialist is preferable over VW though, unless your local dealer is actually competent.

Live data logging with VCDS goes a step further than simple fault codes. Whatever the issue is, you'll have a much better chance of diagnosing it with the right kit, with the right people.
