Canbus Version

This has probably been covered hundreds of times - just had my car scanned with vcds and been given the printout of the report so I could determine what version my gateway is.

Am I right in thinking that this will suffer battery drain?

SW: 1K0 907 530 K  HW: 1K0 907 951

I'm desperate to get the headunit changed from the crappy RCD300 currently in

K is good Ste I've installed rcd510dab without any drain on the battery

Same here, RCD510DAB on a K, a few weeks ago. No issues so far.

K can be good and bad, depends on the software version.

Search about RNS-510 retrofit and CAN gateway. You'll find a list of the compatible versions.
