ED30 and Pirelli Suspension Setup Compared to Standard GTI
« on: March 07, 2017, 07:15:24 pm »
My car is having four new tyres on Monday (Pirelli P Zeros for a Pirelli Edition of course!) and I'm having four wheel laser alignment done at the same time.  Is the suspension set up different so that the wheel alignment will need different settings, i.e. in case the mechanic doesn't know there is a difference between a GTI and a Pirelli edition, is it worth poitning out to them?

My brother had an Alfa 156 "veloce" (I think) that had a different set up (a little lower) to the standard 156 and the garage twice did the alignment wrong and it chewed through rear tyres in a bout 5000 miles - I just want to avoid this!

The Ed. 30 has a bit firmer setup, AFAIK.

All are exactly the same, they all share the same part numbers.

As above, although I think the DSG has a different spring rate to the manuals?  More weight over the front wheels.

I would soak your rear control arm camber adjusters with penetrating oil over night before you get the adjustments made!

I've checked ETKA and there are many springs options. How can you tell which reference belongs to a GTI and which belongs to an Ed. 30? Dampers might be the same, I don't remember noticing any difference.

DSG versions should have different springs in both GTI and Ed. 30.
