I've been meaning to start this thread going for a little bit after eventually getting my hands on a Mk5 Gti.... I'm not new to the VW scene and have been mainly into Mk2's (owned a couple of 8v and 16 valvers) and tinkered around with them, a few shows, clubs, forums etc. but have been out of the loop for a couple of years. My previous car was a Mk4 V5 170bhp variant (underrated Golf in my eyes) and had been great solid car for the last few years, sounded awesome especially mated to a Milltek system
Anyway, thought I'd start with a few pics of some my other past rides as I'm sure being as were all VW fans here and if your anything like me, always love a few photos......
Here's a few of my Mk2's.....
Mk2 16v with 2.0L ABF bottom end

So, enough of that, here's the low down on my newly acquired Mk5.... Oh and by the way, yes I do have a liking for silver Golf's
Purchased my tidy little number just over a month back after spending ages looking through ads and listings etc. as there were plenty of high mileage decent examples but to be honest, I initially was hankering after and Edition 30 but were either over priced high mileage examples or highly modified..... I really wanted a blank canvass to start with so all the mods I could oversee myself and would then know where I was with the car so ended up with this:

Looking to keep her OEM/OEM+ but a few mods and work have already started.....
Done so far:
Milltek cat back non res exhaust
Ed.30/R32 rear lights
Professional 2 stage paint correction and full detail carried out by Etreme Valeting
New uprated battery
2 x Goodyear Eagle F1's
Thermostat replaced (usual low engine temp running issues)
Polo stubby aerial
Custom floor mats
Obligatory Gti seat handle badges
6000k xenon white led side light and rear number plate bulbs
Still plenty to do on 'the list' but in due course and just waiting on a pcv, cam follower and dv as the next jobs. Also hoping to pick up some H&R lowering springs and VWR dampers as soon as Awesome get the dampers back in stock
In the meantime I'm just enjoying driving her and enjoying my commutes to work as this will be my daily
