Vogtland fixed height kit....
« on: April 02, 2017, 08:04:37 pm »
Evening folks. Looking at upgrading my shocks and springs. I think the fronts may have been replaced as there has been advisories on each on last MOT's, no evidence in the service history of them being changed though.

I've fitted TT consoles and replaced a front wishbone for the last MOT and I've got new track arms to put on. After that it's shocks and springs and ideally I'd be putting a B12 kit on it but it's not going on a track anytime soon and I'm not flush at the minute with a cambelt and cam chain service due so looking for something a bit cheaper.

I found this fixed Vogtland fixed height kit

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162220407980

Any experience/opinions/alternatives would be greatly appreciated  :happy2:

P.s not looking for coilies, fixed height kits ideally

I've just bought a set of Vogtland coilovers. They use the same dampers as KW, and Koni use Vogtland springs on some kits. It sounded like it was worth a punt.

I'd imagine the fixed height Vogtland kits are of the same or similar quality - that being a decent budget setup with TUV approval and solid materials.

Have you fitted them yet? I think they look pretty decent and vogtland stuff does get good reviews, as long as they're OEM+ as opposed to just factory quality but painted I'd be happy to be honest.

Not yet, got to get hold of some new top mounts and a few other bits first. Yeah on paper they stack up well. Vogtland seem far more popular in the US for some reason - I trawled through loads of threads on the US forums before I made the decision - there are plenty of happy customers on there!

That's pretty much what i've been doing! Like you say they seem to like them in America, AP fixed kits are £350 so a bit cheaper but the Vogtlands look slightly better quality. obviously looks don't necessarily mean much but just an observation.

Give me an update when you have them fitted anyway be interested to hear what you think of them  :happy2:

Back in my Corrado days, Vogtland were a popular substitute for the H&R springs when partnering with the Koni Yellow dampers.   The ride quality was a lot better.  PI springs worked well too.

There's always been a gap in the market suspension wise, for people who want the job done without spending 4 figures and / or getting better quality than the usual budget suspects.  Hopefully these will fill that gap!

I looked at those too, everybody seems to rave about the AP coilovers so i'd imagine this kit is reasonable too. I'd be interested to know if anyone has it fitted...?

Well I do like AP products so I am between AP coilovers and shocks and springs. Just not sure if 20mm will be a big enough drop.
