Neg Camber
« on: April 09, 2017, 11:52:07 am »
I feel the car needs. Bit more negative camber. What are people's thoughts on either adjustable top mounts or adjustable bottom ball joint. My car is running Bilstein coilovers. Also what geo are you guys running. As before track and weekend car only. M3 used to run -2.5 on front and -2 on rear. Thanks Dave

Aren't ground control top mounts a bit noisy over bumpy roads? I think a friend told me that.

Maybe my friend was unlucky with his top mounts bearings. I think he had them replaced twice before removing the top mounts from his Golf.

You do normally get some noise from solid top mounts but the GCs are quite unique and use 2 bearings I believe.  An OEM BMW bearing to support the spring/top plate, and a second one to support the piston rod or something, which probably helps reduce it.
They do a more extreme version for harder track work.  The standard ones are mild and have limited camber adjustment.

Good to hear the GCs are quiet as I've been eyeing them up and getting impure thoughts for a while now

-2" 45, yes on the road. Amazing levels of grip to be fair, tyre wear on the inner edge is to be expected though, but nothing to excessive. Don't think there will be a difference between the two

The alloy lower arm / adjustable ball joint is a good mod from SuperPro.  Allows that bit more adjustment you're after.

I have them coupled with ground control top mounts.  Around 3ยบ camber combined!

Id advise trying the balljoints alone 1st, although you'd pay for another alignment / geo setup if you added top mounts later.  I think the top mounts can add a bit extra firmness and in some cases a bit of noise.  If you're more concerned about performance and handling, go for it!  Mine handles amazingly
