Miss fire?
« on: January 31, 2010, 07:29:14 pm »
I noticed today especially in 5th at WOT and at high speed the car for a split second feels like it cuts power and does it intermittently as it accelerates. Is this the begining of a coil pack failure because the car under normal driving and not floored it doesn't do it at all. I have put it on vagcom and there are no miss fire fault codes.

Did you also log your requested and actual fuel rail pressure and boost?
Without traction power is nothing!

No not yet. I'm running a uprated pump with a KO4. when i say power cut it's only for a very very split second so i'm assuming it's a missfire?

08 Octavia vRS. Evom's, pump, full Miltek, forge twintercooler, KO4... 56k. Still on original coilpacks. Half tank of fuel. The car gives intermittent like jerks. I have a feeling i'm lucky to be on the ori coils at 56k?

i had this problem last summer , only happened on hard accelaration/wot in  the higher gears .
no fault codes came up , changed the coilpacks and spark plugs and never had any probs since  :happy2:

micky is revo stage 3.

I have  similar thing on mine at the moment. its a recent addition.

ive changed MAF to no avail.

next im going to change the MAP sensor, the spark plugs, if its still there ill be looking into coilpacks, lambda sensors etc.

mater (carl) had misfires recently and i think he changed his MAF and MAP sensor on friday so he might be able to elaborate on his issues and see if his new sensors worked

Sounds like you just have the 5200rpm flat spot that alot of people suffer from. Coilpacks and plugs dont make a difference to it, and neither did a new MAF.

Im still working on trying to find out why exactly it does it, and potentially will have made some progress on it shortly. Will know in a week or two.

Poverty it's not the flat spot you are talking about, this is totally a different thing. This suddenly happened today and it can happen at 3500 rpm at WOT in a high gear. Funnily i went out for a drive this evening and it was ok. I do have a nice set of RS4 coilpacks i'll try them if it returns. Hedge no i haven't disconnected the battery recently.

micky if you still have VCDS handy i reckon yuo should do some logs. one of the guys like hedge or vRStu are besty placed to tel you what blocks to log.  but if you can make your car do it again you might be able to see what is causing the issue.

id still look into the MAF/MAP sensors etc
