GOLF R/S3/RS3/A45
« on: April 11, 2017, 11:34:53 pm »
Looking to potentially chop my C63 and mk5 gti in for one car. Considering the above. Never driven any of them. I know golf r is around 18-19K going from cheapest on market, a45 around 25k, and not sure about the S3 and RS3..

Anyone driven any of these cars? I'll prob go towards a remap and exhaust on the vags and just a remap and down pipes on the 45..

An A45 or a RS3 might be too expensive for some, while a tuned Golf R should be more fun to drive and stealth on the road.

On stock form the A45 might be the best of the bunch, I think.

I wouldn't mind having a stage 2 tuned RS3 sedan.

If you get one of the cheaper 7R's just put a TTE470 on it and go to MRC for some magic. Otherwise as a 'fairly' stock car RS3 is the best. A45 is nice and needs a map to bring it alive (so do most tbf) but is also a bit small inside for me.

Going from current prices 7R seems like the best value for money and I've always loved golfs. Saying that the 7R is very common ATM so might wait till demand comes down along with prices.. S3 isn't as good as 7R in terms of driving I've heard and read from many and RS3 doesn't seem like it worth the extra outlay of money. A45 is nice but seems less classy than a nice 7R even though it's a lot more pricey and looks a bit boy racer-ish!!

M140i, was very surprised at the drive and performance. Having driven all the other cars in your list this was a completely different machine.

The A45 interior looks shocking. That alone would put me off ever buying one.

I own a 7R, they are fantastic cars mate. . . :notworthy:

Seriously capable in any weather and surprisingly great fun to drive. . Won best got hatch in TG magazine last year, and its easy to see why. It just does it all  :happy2:

My mate has a new RS3, and we both agree that the 7 is a better drive. . . Although the sound of the RS3 is immense

There's some people who say the 45 interior seems cheap and rattles but personally I think it's ok and the new AMG buckets are stunning. Prob the best seats on the market ATM bar a few super cars

Think 7R is what I'd go for.. getting one with the right spec will be hard. Not too fussed about noise. As long as it's doesn't sound like a diesel  :signLOL:

Never driven any apart from two a45 amg's one of which is a petronas edition which has more power etc and limited to 16 made or something, both my dads and wasn't impressed at all found them so boring certainly wouldn't swap my 6R for one!

Fast Audis are theft targets these days, so I'd hold off on them for a bit.

A45 AMG....fell out of the ugly tree inside and out, but pretty damn quick!  A mate has the latest 380hp version and it's definitely not a car I'd want to own.  I preferred his old RS5 and R8.

Which leaves the 7R as a good choice, but again, it's on the ram raiders top 5.

Maybe some toning down parts from the lesser VAGs could be employed here.  Stealth is always the best approach.

Change of plans. Decided to keep my GTI, brilliant car and all I need as a daily. Keep C63 for weekend and fun days  :happy2:
