Removed the sponge in the front arches there should I place soundening back into the arches, I have some rubber/tar audio deadening dynamat lying around so it shouldn't get moisture. Just want to see if anyone noticed more noise from removing the sponge or placed sound deadening in

The sponge had been removed on my mk4 golf when I got it and I believe it's why it's remained rust free!

Removed the sponge and place dynamat xtreme in it, it's made from tar and a thin aluminium sheet on top so shouldn't rust either. Also had enough to do the spare wheel well, you'd be surprised how much noise they make in cars
