Your driving pet peeves...
« on: April 17, 2017, 05:31:34 pm »
Thought this would be a good topic, especially as we are all into cars and driving.

My two biggies are:

1) People on your right not indicating to turn left at a roundabout  :fighting:

2) Being a passenger in a car when the driver is about 2 gears too high and labouring the engine at 1050rpm. Just change down a gear FFS! Also hear this a lot as a cyclist where people obviously haven't got the faintest idea about how to use a gearbox and they take about 50m to overtake you doing 20mph in 5th gear.

1. Drivers that turn right without indicating.
2. People that don't say 'thank you' at a zebra crossing.
3. Cyclists...Where do I start?!

Drivers in front that slow to a near stop, and THEN look right at roundabouts.

40 in a NSL.

40 in a NSL and braking at the slightest hint of nothing.

Cushions on the parcel shelf - BEWARE.

Car in front that qualifies for 'Pick the worst possible new car on the market' (Renault sh*tebox etc) - BEWARE.

Infuriatingly bad lane discipline on DC or MW. If you're in lane 2 or 3, you're supposed to be overtaking. No other reason. Do not be in lane 2 or 3 to roll along oblivious to other drivers and the whole ****ing point of having more than one lane. Get back over when you're done. Use your mirrors. Motorways are saturated with incompetence. No wonder we get pileups.

And just to add, no, I don't sit up those ^ drivers' arses flashing my lights. I sit in a bemusingly empty lane 1, wondering why the hell I can't get a step on.

Bad lane discipline on roundabout so when I'm going past they nearly stray into me, there's f*cking lines on the road stay in them you twat.

People who slow down before taking a turning and then slam the brakes to a near halt just as they're about to turn.

People in the outside lane of a slip road when they're not overtaking anyone because if I'm in that lane you need to be going for it to stay out my way

People who don't say thank you

People who don't indicate on roundabouts

People who indicate incorrectly on roundabouts

People who don't change their broken bulbs

People with fog lights on when they don't need to be

Don't flash at me because you think I'm going to fast when you're doing 45 in a 70 you grumpy old twat.

Basically i don't like other people.

the way people attemp to move sheep that are stood in the middle of the road by sitting 10-20 meters back pointlessly peeping their horns, the daft things never shift from that. Also the way people slow down to ridicolous speeds e.g 5mph to drive over cattle grids  :fighting:

Being a country boy you can always tell who's a local and who's not by them two points above.

Bad lane discipline is a given but my biggie at the moment are pople who cant use slip roads.....theyre for speeding up/ slowing down. You dont crawl up it at 40, merge badly causing HGVs to move into middle lane and then speed up and you certainly dont slow down to 40 whilst indicating to leave the motorway!!!

I really don't know where to start!

Let's just say almost all of the above? But...

.... I don't like cattle grids, nor does my Eddy (and I do live in the country)   :signLOL:

So let's add lazy feckin farmers who leave 2" of cow sh*te sprayed across an A road! How are they allowed to get away with it? Lethal!

I drove through the deepest, darkest hills of Wales last Autumn.

Navigated (or so I thought) a large deposit of horse/cow/monster sh*t on a B road by straddling it dead on. Not til I got to the Tesco garage at Cardigan did I realise I hadn't avoided a single bit of it. Huge lump of it, with straw sticking out of it and everything, bang in the middle of the splitter and engorged in the honeycomb. Nice.

+1
These selfish tw@ts are a very significant PITA if you're towing a trailer yourself, and so are prohibited from using outside lane on a motorway!
