Re attaching rear view mirror

So far used

Gorilla glue didnt work
Halfords adhesive pad ..falls off within day or 2
Euro car parts windscreen bonder..did nt work at all
Got 2 part epoxy but been advised it damages windscreen
Any suggestions pleeeeease

Eurocarparts sell a resin with a mesh patch that I've used for customers when I used to work in a performance shop years ago and it worked a treat but you must let the glue and mesh set whilst holding the clip on the screen for at least 5 minutes

3M VHB Double Sided tape.

Problem is mirror is hanging, nearly all tapes need a good length of time (few hours) to reach max strength.
So you need something to keep firm pressure applied for a while.

Also you need the glass to be clean.... (not a glass cleaner which contains contaminants) something like isopropyl alcohol :)

I tried the euro car parts resin mesh.. taped it up with gorilla tape to keep it firm while it sets. Came straight off.

The best stuff was the halfords adhesive pads but they did not hold for more then a day or 2

Did you clean the existing glue/pad off? I've never had an issue with the resin pad ever

This happened in a ford fiesta with me, went to Ford got an original mirror pad and it worked. Although are you leaving the car in a warm area to dry if the glass cools moisture would build up and weaken the bind

i have tried warm and cold places.
its just not sticking

the euro car parts resin was the worst, i have cleaned with alcohol wipes and taken all glue off
it just wouldnt stick to the glass no matter what i did.

not really sure what else to use.

A new mirror might be your only choice then, or ask the stealers to fix it for you and let it be there problem I'd like to hope they couldn't charge over an hour for a mirror

This! Interior mirrors are a nightmare tbh.

Halfords number plate tape is really really good, comes on a big roll, it's never failed to stick anything I've tried, not sure if it would work with a mirror but could be a temp fix for you.

There's also a mega sticky tape in Homebase which is the daddy for bonding as o used to work part time for them and that's all I got for free to test  can't remember the name but I used it onthe bathroom door to hold my garnets and it did just that for years

This is the tape I mean, just remembered it's not called number plate tape, comes in a few different sized rolls.

Still having issues!

It seems like the plastic pipe connected to the mirror which goes into the roof has unconnected and doesnt clip in (difficult place to see)
the mirror has clean come off the windscreen, all thats left is a black square on the window

Any suggestions? VW quoted £250 for a new mirror  but my mirror is fine, just dont know how to attach it back, especially now the top clip is off.

I have exactly the same problem as this!

I have used Tiger Seal, Gorilla Glue, Other Silicone Glues. Longest its lasted is a month or two and boom it falls off.

I have even tried to glue the metal frame to the windscreen but it still falls off
