S3 Console bushes
« on: April 22, 2017, 05:07:51 pm »
Has anyone fitted them to a GTI?

I noticed whilst fitting Passat wishbones to mine that my WALK bushes are worn out, which is a well known 'creep and set' issue with polyurethane.

Ages ago I bought some S3 bushes and I went to fit them, but discovered the housings are 10mm offset, which would push the wishbone down and therefore increase positive caster, which will then need an alignment?

Is that the only difference?  Everything else looked the same.

Get the SuperPro ALK bushes or the complete consoles with bushes. I chose SuperPro because it was reviewed on the forums to be stronger than the Whiteline equivalent. I love it and I have them in my GT Sport for +3 years. Was one of the 1st parts that I've ordered to my Ed. 30.

You'll be better off than with just the S3 bushes.

I chose to get the powerflex black series ALK, stiff as morning wood apparently

Thanks for the recommendations but I've already got the S3 consoles and I'm keen to see what they are like, plus a bit more caster never hurts the handling

The SuperPro consoles with anti-lift will give you more caster. Not sure about the S3 consoles...

On my car they would because the Whiteline bush housing is a different shape to the S3 ones I have.   Maybe I have the wrong whiteline consoles or the S3 ones aren't S3, lol.

If the S3 bushes fit the Whiteline consoles you might keep the increased caster. The SuperPro consoles are the same as OEM but from a lighter alloy and it's the bushes by being off centre that give the extra caster. The bushes are also metal plated to prevent damages to the PU during its use.

I've got the S3 wishbones and super pro anti lift kit and they're brilliant compared to whiteline* and the cheaper powerflex brand  :happy2:

I figured it out last night.  My Whitelines add caster, so the console housing is a different shape to GTI/S3.  I binned my GTI ones years ago, so forgot what they looked like
