ABS Module and fully disabling the ABS

Hi, does the Mk5 use an MK60 or MK60EC1 ABS module like the Seat Leon Cupra Mk2s?
Do you know the VCDS change to allow the ABS to be fully disabled?

i doubt you could fully disable ABS because normally why would you want to. its a life saving feature

Just disconnect an ABS sensor if you want to disable it.  Nothing is ever FULLY off on the MK5.

Mk60 on mk5 which is fully codable via vcds, so ebay will find you a good replacement

I have just discovered and done this on my seat Leon using VCDS.
If the Mk5 uses the same ABS module (which I think it does) you guys should be able to do it too.

My Ed. 30 has the older ABS pump MK60. When I disable TC the TC light goes solid on (no flashing). I was told that this is still not fully off. Do you know a way to fully turning off with VCDS coding?

Apparently it's a model year thing.  Some you can turn it off (in VCDS), some you can't, but on the US MK5 forum there was mention of disconnecting the accelerometer which would disable the TC/ESP.

My reply was just in answer to which unit the mk5 uses, Mk60 and I meant if his broken unit is changed you can code it easily with vcds,  sadly I don't know hoe to fully turn off ESP

I was wondering this also for my 2007 s3 8p. I fitted a set of Carbon Lorraine brake pads this week and it either locks the tyres or the ABS kicks in and judders down the road, would never have believed a pad could bite into a disc as hard as that. Maybe just need to adjust driving style as I am used to ECP Pagid pads.

Regardless of what is printed on the button "esp off", by standard this just disables tc or asr, esp is still on.
With vcds you can program the button to do 2 operations, the golf R boys with later cars all do it.
I've just found out how to do it on my cupra, may work for the golf too.

MK60 pumps are very different, I'm afraid. Much more limited.

What about the ed30? Can't believe the Leon has a better abs setup than the golf

Don't forget the mk5 golf was made from 2004 to 2009, only when the mk6 golf came along did the golf get MK60EC1
