Hi this is officialy my first post (please go easy on me) been lurking for a while and am now the proud owner of a black fully loaded manual mk5 gti 5 door.
I want to lower it but i dont want to make the ride choppier than what it already is as its sat on 18"Monzas,i have a brand new set of H&R springs which was ment for my now sold Audi tt 2002,would these fit if not what are the recommendations for a low stance but unaffected ride?

Hi and welcome!  :happy2:

I doubt very much the H&R's would fit if I'm honest. I ran Eibach Sportlines and these barely alter the ride. AP Coilovers are also fairly inexpensive and if anything they improve the ride and you then have he adjustability!  :happy2:

if they are from a fwd mk2 audi TT then they shoul fit, not sure about 4wd TBH, and they wont fit if they are from a mk2.  lowering springs wont really make your ride that choppy TBH, match them to a good set of dampers and they will very likely ride as good as if not better than stock

I have the AP coilovers btw

The springs i have are from a mk1 tt 225 4wd.Would the AP coilovers be from awesome gti's website?

either or mate. i think they were worth the money to be honest. ive had them on for a fair while now and have done fair amount of track time on them as well, and they havent let me down

A Warm Welcome icebite (but not so warm you melt!).

As the others are saying, coilovers would be best best you can both adjust the ride height and get them properly setup to avoid choppiness etc.

Better to go the coilover route than just springs and then coilovers later. But this depends on your longer term plan for how you use your car.

For the price, the AP coilovers seem like a good buy. I've been out in a GTI with them fitted and the ride was supreme!

ive driven a cupra with a set of KW V3s on and id have to have a fair bit of money laying about before i changed as the difference was barely noticable between them.

I've got a set of AP's on my GTi and I have found them to be excellent, and they hold up very well in comparrison to the likes of KW's which are double the price.

I have had H&R springs then AP coilovers on mine and both are great.

Given the choice again I would go straight for the AP's  :happy2:

So people are reporting that AP coilovers are as good as KW's but significantly cheaper - Are there any differences in build quality or material durability etc?

you could ony realsistically rate them against the KW V1's in all fairness though.  Il still change to bilstein B16s or kw V3s at a later date, but only once i have everything else on the cra exactly as i want it
