Back to Standard or Sell as is?
« on: April 21, 2017, 02:49:17 pm »

Title says it all really, this is my first time selling a modded car so could do with your advice.

Golf mk5 1.4 TSI (twincharged) 120,000mi MY07

Mods:
- Superchipped (~200bhp)
- GT front bumper
- R32 sideskirts
- R32 rear bumper
- Xenon headlights (projector style with xenon kit)
- R32 tail lights (self tinted)
- R32 front brakes
- 19" BBS CH
- Milltek center back
- AP Coilovers
- Forge recirc valve
- ITG Cold air intake
- R32 clocks
- RNS 510
- Bluetooth Kit
- Multifunction SW
- Cruise Control
- Centre console with armrest

As i'm aiming to get a mk7 R, the target here is max value whilst taking into account the PITA of rewinding all these mods. I have all the original parts still.

thanks in advance!  :happy2:

Well about 10 of those mods listed would be pretty easy to sell and Worth quite a bit so if you don't mind doing the work Yourself then go back to stock.

Bumpers and skirts would be an easy swap.

If you had to get a mechanic to fit a lot of the parts then it wouldn't make sense to pay the hourly rate for him to remove them again.

Be better off going back to standard, you'll probably only get 25% back on the mods if you sold on the car. You'd get around £3,000 at fair priced parts

I'm having the same dilemma with my gti. Problem is I'd have to pay someone to swap most of the parts so not sure it's worth while.

Always back to standard as it'll open your market for the car most people want a standard car and you'll make more selling your mods off the car.

Just got to weigh up what to change and what not to, I'm not bothering with SALK or the engine mounts as to much agro but everything else is coming off

I've got Sams old silver gti, it's got a massive spec list so a lot of it, need to source standard bits first. I'll give it a shot on autotrader first later this week now that I've got standard front seats and if that don't do it I'll contact you about breaking.

What is that rear bumper protector you've got and where did you get it?  I'm always scratching my bumper when loading stuff in the boot!

Get a bit of self healing PPF whacked on, shouldn't be much and it will always heal itself if scratched or ripped.
