Who picked the module and who fitted it?
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

There is 2 numbers 702 "x" and 792 "x"

So the 792N will always allow mirror fold no matter what part number the motor has?

Like this one

Will this be a max module? :smiley:
hmm confusing to me why 702-792 and not 703 with 702 and 792 with 793

Sorry to jump on your post but I had to change my drivers door window motor as the old one cooked itself and when the new one was fitted and all the buttons worked the wrong thing VW didn't want to know and they're trying to blame it on my car! So what we are saying is the current gen modules definitely won't work in an early mk5? What's the fix for this?
what is your original gen part number as I have the last letters G that are spares now. Also are your electrics basic and non folding?

No my car was spec'd with folding mirrors from new. VW have had it for a total of 5 days now and can't get it to work! My mechanic got it working with a Passat module but I am pissed off that VW just shrugged their shoulders at the new part not working so am getting them to fit the new part for free, not matter how long it takes  :grin: They said to me "VW wouldn't have made a new revision to a part which wouldn't work on your car". Umm, it seems they have  :doh:

the reason I asked was if yours are Rev G then mine should have worked with folding option but obviously not.

My 05 MK5 has factory fitted folding mirrors and puddle lights - gen2 highline controllers

Gen3 are totally wired different as I fitted gen3, wanted to add reverse mirror dip and remove fold in.
They don't work, unless re-wired, which I didn't get round to doing so don't know the wires.

Put gen 3 into gen2 and all strange things happen.
door lock puts windows down, window buttons don't lock, dash displays left door always open....etc.
VW Golf 2.0 Gtd 140 4motion (2005)
Factory fitted: xenons, sunroof, heated leather seats, fold in mirrors with downlights,
Custom: Mk6 steering wheel, updated gateway, RNS510 remote boot pop, LED lighting.

My car is back in with VW today for them to sort the window motor / electric mirror issue. Good luck I say! Though I did enjoy the loan Polo's beautifully working folding and electric mirrors  :grin:

I have a feeling I will be putting the old gen 2 module my mechanic gave me back in... what's most annoying though is that they disconnected the battery so my Revo map has gone back to 0 - since when did fitting a window motor require disconnecting of the battery!? They are USELESS!

Gen.2 MAX electronic modules have "H" and the motors are "L".
Gen.3 MAX electronic modules have "M" and the motors are "Q"

or could also be electronic "K" and motors with "N".  -- Not quite sure on this one. I know the "N" motor are highline module but can't remember which revision the electronic has.. I think it's a K  :confused:

You would have thought a VW dealership with the aid of "VW Technical" would know this  :scared:

When you're changing from gen1-2 to 3. All wires in T32 connector has to be changed and some in the T20.

Here's the list for wire swapping.

Text is danish but the pins are the same.
or check colours..

rød = red
hvid = white
gul = yellow
grøn = green
blå = blue
grå = grey
lilla = purple
orange = orange
sort = black
brun = brown

Nothings never easy with these door modules... I've spent hours and hours sourcing out info and I did end up buying two new Gen. 2 MAX modules since I didn't want to do all the wire swapping.. Actually did all the wire swapping for some Gen. 3 modules that didn't work properly.

Thank you for this - it's highly useful. Perhaps I will take it in to my local dealership to assist them... because they sure as hell won't work it out for themselves!!

http://www.r32oc.com/index.php?/topic/241505-Window-Module-Gen-2-to-3-Wiring-Changes

I wrote this the other day bit more info for you

This is really a nice write up SI.
I think the pin 14 on gen. 2 module is +12V for interior doorhandle illumination if incase you want to add that to your scheme. And it's pin 17 on gen.3 modules :)
