CAN Gateway
« on: May 02, 2017, 01:37:01 pm »
So, I am looking to upgrade my CAN Gateway, since I am soon to be fitting an RNS510 to my Edition 30.  I scanned my ED30, and unfortunately it only has the K version (Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 K).

So looking about, I see these are quite cheap:  7N0907530 AH  (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-OEM-VW-Canbus-Gateway-For-VW-Passat-B6-Jetta-5-MK5-Golf-6-MK6-Touran/32298248581.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.1.w2mxVF&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_0_10065_10068_10000009_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10060_10062_10056_10055_503_10054_10059_10099_10078_501_10079_426_10103_10073_10102_10096_10052_10050_10107_10051_10106,searchweb201603_0,afswitch_5&btsid=1baab8a8-7e24-4d41-9c7b-c8ca5e4d9592)

Now presumably they are for the Chinese market.  Is there any significant difference between these and the EU version?

I may be looking to add a Highline cluster, and MFSW at a later date.  And I am considering going down the mk6 route here, so would like something that would be compatible with these future upgrades too.

Is there any reason I should be going for the EU one over the Chinese one here?  What EU version should I go for if I want to go down these upgrade routes later anyway?

Ended up ordering this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-OEM-VW-Canbus-Gateway-For-VW-Passat-B6-Jetta-MK5-Golf-MK6-Touran-Skoda-Octavia/1824812044.html
Fitted fine, coded fine. Not had chance to pop a new radio in but the car isn't throwing any errors in VCDS and everything seems to be working like the old module.

Arrived in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone else know about whether these will work with mk6 clusters / steering wheels too?

One would hope so, looking for a mk7 GTD MFSW with paddleshift in my mk5 at some point soon with white or colour Scirocco clocks.

If anyone else has done it that'd be handy to know if any modules are needed too.

Send him a PM and he will sort you out im sure. I still plan to get one from him but other things need fixed on my car first.

Well, just bought a Q version off ebay.  Was more than £20 cheaper than Pashka (I did PM him too), and I already have VCDS, so fancied coding it myself anyway (we'll see if that is a mistake, but if successful, it's £20-odd towards justifying my VCDS, lol).

Hope that'll be man enough for newer steering wheel and cluster though.

I've bought many Q versions around same price and never had issues. :)

Also you don't have to have newer canbus for mk5 highline clocks

Yeah, I was hoping to go mk6 for the clocks though.  But I spotted a cheap set of mk5 highline clocks on ebay, so will give them a bash first.

I have a highline cluster for sale. 973 if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer.  But as I said, I found a cheap set on ebay (£30 cheap), so will try them first.  If they don't work out, for whatever reason, I'll go for mk6 clocks most likely.
