Wing corrosion advice

I have the standard mk5 wing corrosion (2006 car), and I took the car to my local dealer who have said VW will pay for 2 new wings and painting and fitting, which is good, however they're saying if I want it to be blended I have to pay for that at a cost of £300-£400! Is this right? I don't see why I should pay for the blending when it should be part of the repair? Are they fobbing me off??

What colour is it?  Mine is flat black and didn't need blending, but technically they are correct.  They are obliged to replace the rusted part only.  Blending is a cosmetic extra and the customer's cost.

If it's a silver or gun metal shade I'd be wary of blending tbh.  Had that done in the past and in certain lights it was very obvious half of the door was a slightly different shade of silver, and once you spot it, it will bug you forever.

It's a steel gray (maybe United grey?) so I thought it was a must to blend with that colour, don't want to risk not blending it and then it's an obvious difference..

Blending grey metallics seamlessly is tricky!  It's your call, but personally I'd only do the wing and save the cash and potential disappointment of a crap blend     If they do a really good job of it, it's worth the money but you can't know that in advance unforuntately.

Out of interest im looking to pop into my local dealers in the morning to hopefully discuss the bubbling arches on mine.

What exactly did you say when you went in as im useless at things like this and will probably end up being fobbed off.

All you need to tell them is your car is within the 12 year rust warranty and it has rusty front wings. You would like them to inspect it and repair under warranty.

Just had mine back from VW Chester for front wing replacement and they also said the same thing about blending.

Mine is Reflex Silver and the match is perfect.
