MK6 clocks into MK5 - ABS Pump
« on: May 08, 2017, 11:43:38 am »
Hi all

I have recently purchased some mk6 clocks to fit into a mk5 golf Gti.

I've been told however that the ABS pump may need updating. I haven't checked yet what version I have but as it's an 05 plate I'm going on the premise that it will need updating.

I have read that the version Q is the one to go for - are these pumps hard to change and is there any how to's available? And is the below part all I would need?

Thanks

You would need BE pump. Apart from that you need a bracket for it and brake pipework for a front wheels as in mk60ec1 are opposite to mk60. Additionally some rewiring / pin out changes on pump loom plug. I can pist a parts lists later on if interested.

No need for a newer steering wheel, at worse you'll need to upgrade the steering wheel module for the CH revision.

No need for a newer steering wheel, at worse you'll need to upgrade the steering wheel module for the CH revision.

I had already newer Gateway and CH Steering module before doing an ABS swap and clocks swap, so not 100% sure. With newer clocks TPMS is done via cluster hence might need a gateway swap for a newer one.

List of parts:
1K2 614 235 C Pump bracket 1
1K0 614 235 D Pump bracket 2
1K2 614 723 F Brake Line left
1k2 614 724 M Brake Line right

About pumps: (pick one depends on the functions you want to have)
ESP, XDS, HHC - 1K0 907 379 (AJ/ AT/ BE/ BJ/ BL)
ESP, XDS, ---- - 1K0 907 379 (AH/ AS/ BD/ BH/ BK)
ESP, ----, HHC - 1K0 907 379 (AE/ AP)

Wiring modification:

I've just checked and I have a Q revision module - 1k0 907 379 Q

Would this module be okay to install a black and white cluster?

The clocks that I am looking to fit are from a golf plus

Thanks

From what years is your mk5 build?
I think mk5 gti's that was build efter 8/2006 (MY2007) has an ABS unit that will work with the newer clusters.

@Christiank my car is a 2005 build I think but it is registered as a 2007 as it is an import back into the UK from Dubai.

I read this thread which says it should be ok but I've been told by Alex that it's too old:

I think the Q version is fine? I have a MY2005 car with the "K" so I did the Mk60 to Mk60ec1 swap :)

didn't know that the Q revisions was fitted from that early on.. Good to know.
I think my mates GTI also has the Q version and he didn't have to change anything.

No the mk5 need to be MY2009, so they have to have been built after 08/2008, like my GT Sport. My Ed. 30 is a MY2008 and still has the MK60 ABS pump.

My GT Sport came with a Q rev CAN Gateway and my Ed. 30 had a L rev CAN Gateway.

I've spoken to Eddie NL who has advised my abs pump is okay to go with

So no idea what to do with it now?

My dilemma is Eddie is 3 hours away from me and my current situation is I can't take 3 hours out of my day to get to him.

Alex on the other hand is 45 mins away but he's advised my pump is too old!

Can you confirm that Eddie knows that your ABS pump is a MK60 and not a MK60EC1? Maybe he confused the part number...

With a VCDS scan of the ABS module.

you can still make it work with a Mk60 unit if the electronic module is newer than the "K" revision I think - There's a few thread on the internet about it you search for it.

That way you'll don't need to change the pump and brake pipes.
