Loss of power :0(
« on: May 17, 2017, 10:21:19 am »
Hi chaps

Was wondering if I can get some advice, I've had an issue recently with my Golf GTI with the car not accelerating as it should. Its almost like there is a real lack of power, kind of like driving with a 1.0 litre engine. I took it to my garage that maintains my car in Leighton Buzzard earlier this week and it flashed up with the following codes. They cleared them and asked me to keep an eye on it

Code      Description
01089    EVAP Emission Control Sytem Incorrect, Purge Flow
08567    System too lean off idle, Bank 1
04243    Bank 1, fuel measuring system 2, Malfunction

Anyway driving to work this morning, the same problem occurred again, the car felt totally flat. Was just wondering if anyone can shed any light on the above as to what the issue may be before the car goes back to the garage on Friday

Lastly, the car is totally stock apart from a GFB Diverter Valve+.

Thanks in advance
George

It's running lean. So you've got a fuelling problem.

It could be any number of things, but injectors and the high pressure pump often cause problems.

I'd advise you don't drive it too far until it's sorted. Going lean can cause big damage.

Good luck on Friday.

No worries. If you're forced to drive it, keep the throttle as light as possible. Keep us posted on what they say

Need more than just fault codes..... Need data

The last code suggests a fuel pressure fault.... Have you checked that the HPFP regulator isnt damaged? The electrical connector on the top.... easily damaged.... Checked for air leaks? Split pipes, failing PCV etc?
