Has my car been remapped? Boost log
« on: May 08, 2017, 12:22:00 pm »
Hi guys, I bought my golf 2 weeks ago and think it's been remapped. It's got a cobra exhaust on it. I'm unsure if it's a cat back or turbo back. How can I tell? Also how do I tell if it's been remapped? She definitely kicks you back in your seat that's for sure, I ran a quick boost log on my way back from the shop

The two spikes are where I changed gear in the dsg. I went from 50 to 120 on my private runway ofcourse

If it's got an aftermarket exhaust on it, it's very likely been remapped.

Even the standard mapping spikes the turbo a little bit, but going by your numbers, I'd say it's mapped.   Need a plot of boost vs rpm and amount in kpa or psi.

You can also tell by reading the ECU with a code reader like VCDS and looking at the flash count.  Factory = 0.  1 and above = remapped.

Sort of.  Ideally a full throttle pull in 4th that's longer than a few seconds

Either way, a 2 bar spike isn't particularly healthy.

My cars a dsg, shall I put it into semi auto. Select 4th then foot to the floor for few seconds? I've just left it in D for these logs. I can lose traction in 3rd if I just plant my foot. I believe my app only records in 1 second segments

I believe logging the MAF sensor (g/sec) doing a full throttle run in 3rd is another good way of estimating BHP.

This is probably the best way.  around 185g/s is right for an ed30 so around 230bhp
