Cheapest way to improve rcd300 and stock speakers, whilst keeping oem.

Ok so I understand the stock speakers are nothing my special but my reading tells me it's the soft clipping of the rcd300 that is the real problem.

I would prefer to keep my rcd300 but my only option then is a cleansweep unit plus amp plus speaker.

I don't need nav so would something like a rcd510 be a cheaper drop in upgrade that I could simply plug better speakers into?

Why not a RCD310? it's the newer version of the RCD300 but with dab and connect aux to it and can get them for around £40.

I play spotify music through it in my golf and tbh it's very very good even with original speakers, I just put the music quality to extreme.

I'm not so keen on the looks of that unit if I'm being honest. Does that have soft clip?

By soft clip what do you mean? I havent heard that before.

Soft clipping is a 'feature' of some lower spec head units where frequency is restricted at higher volumes to reduce damage to speakers.

It ruins the sound quality.

Couldn't tell you never played my music loud enough to notice, I enjoy my music variety of all kinds wouldn't say I'm an audiophile though, it honestly depends how you're going to be playing the music.

Personally I prefer to add sound deadening and increase the quality of the music before going to audio components as it's cheaper.

{side note added sound deadening to under the bonnet and in the spare wheel well of my mk5 polo (very very similar just a bit smaller) and I can't drive other polos because mines far far quieter and it annoys me}
