ABS/ESP Problem/Questions
« on: May 15, 2017, 07:22:38 pm »
Hoping someone will be able to help me with my ABS/ESP problem.  I have searched the forum but cant find the answer to my fault.  I have the common G201 fault with the abs. From what i have found on the forum so far is that with this fault the ABS/ESP lights stay lit. My ABS light comes on when i turn the ignition on then goes off.  My ESP light doesnt come on at all. I cant find any post with the ESP light not coming on or the ABS light not showing on the dash. Has anyone had this with there GTI?  below is my vcds scan with the usual fault

The pressure sensor is built into the abs pump and is a common fault mate. Few options you can buy a repair kit from the dealers or send yours off to be repaired.

Hi mate, no the light doesn't come on if I hold the esp button. It's doesn't even come on if I just turn the ignition on.

Is the repair kit a bunch of seals and solenoid valves by any chance?   History repeating itself it seems!  Had the same issue with Corrado ABS pumps back in the day.  The valves used to seize up through lack of use......hence why it's important to cycle the ABS when doing fluid changes to agitate the crud and flush it out.   Kicking the ABS in on a quiet road occasionally probably wouldn't hurt as a long term maintenance thing.
