Yes, pretty much. You'll need certain bolts, and a centering ring for each disc - the Merc discs have a larger inner bore than VW. It's advised you use 17Z pads with 18Z calipers in the mk5 application. You don't need adaptor brackets like some OEM BBK conversions, but specific discs and the bolts etc are necessary to make it work.

That's about it really. Shoduchi really knows his stuff with this, he runs this setup on his ed30 which gets lots of track time. I'm sure he'll be able to fill in on the details when he's next on the forum!

I've gone for the 8V S3 set up with standard pads and HEL lines. My ED30 is stock though but they were upgraded with future plans for stage 2. They don't cost a fortune, probs around the same price as a R32 setup or cheaper if you haggle!

MASSIVE difference though, a touch of the brake pedal and i'm nearly out the front windscreen. No spacers or brackets needed, they bolt straight on and fill the Pescara's nicely. - If you decide to go for this set up try getting your hands on red calipers, the only thing I wish I did tbh  :fighting:

The mk7 Golf GTI Performance Pack brakes are the easiest to retrofit and better improvement for the money. They're also red with white GTI lettering. For daily use they're enough for a stage 2 Ed. 30. Maybe enough for a stage 2+, if not pushed hard too long. They're the same as the mk7 Golf R/Audi S3 8V/Leon Cupra mk3. They use 340 mm discs but you can fit Brembo Sport 340 mm discs that are a bit lighter.

For a 6-pot setup you can use the Brembo 18Z that only need this adaptor kit: https://www.epytec.de/en/brake-technology/caliper-adaptors/front-axle/3550/vw-golf-5-gti-6-a3-s3-8p-seat-leon-cayenne-zr18-front-brake-caliper-adapter-r32bremssattel?c=105.

There's plenty of info online about them. As already said by AJP, the correct pads are for the Brembo 17Z. You can check my build topic to see them fitted.
