Edition 30 no. 1256 - now for sale for £5800
« on: May 24, 2017, 10:14:16 am »
So, I just couldn't stay away from the VAG ;). Some of you maybe remember my high mileage Mk5 GTI that I sold in January. It was running 340hp/340/lb.ft with a loba turbo and supporting mods. I sold this, and replaced it with a clio 182, followed by a clio 200. They were great cars, and the chassis are fantastic, but it was no VW. Picked up this edition 30 the night the clio sold.

Good points.
Edition 30
82k miles
Xenons
Folding Mirrors
Armrest
Android Satnav
Wheels refurbed

Better points:
Quaife LSD
Eibach Sportline Springs
H&R front and Rear Anti roll bars
Solid Engine Mounts
Powerflex Anti Lift Kit
Toyo R888 front tyres

Some form of intake
Airtec intercooler
Relentless 3.5" downpipe
Cobra 3" resonated system
APR RFD
DV+
RS4 fuel return valve
CTS turbo throttle pipe
CTS turbo outlet pipe

The previous owner has said it has not been mapped, but it pulls very, very well (but maybe its just the torque from having the clio). The diff is awesome, and it makes an incredible difference to the car.

Plans are to:
Paint behind the grill black
Fix the rust on the driver rear arch
Full detail
Highline clocks
Fit a new clutch and HPFP and go for stage 2+

This looks so smart. Love the tints, they go well will the silver wheels in a weird way (maybe its just me).

Will keep a eye on progress as this is a similar route I want to take my edition down..

How does it drive with the suspension/chassis mods?

Stealth Racing Stage 2+ Tornado Red 5dr DSG Edition 30
Mk2 Oak Green 16v -> 1.8T - Still Sleeping..

It's a big step up from the last mk5, which was on standard suspension.

The diff makes the biggest difference and really pulls you into the corners and gives a lot of confidence. I do feel like the ARBs give it a planted feel too.

The springs are a little crashy I feel (compared to previous coilovers and even the the clio 200 cup - which was hard). So these may get replaced for some KW's at a later date.

Im really Liking these tornado red ed30s.
Most definitely, the roll bars make a big difference. Im tempted by a quaife....

So today is the first proper dry hot day using it and it sticks to the road like sh*t. Have stuck a tank of Vpower in it too and it seems to have perked up, so I imagine that it will be stage 1 mapped. Hopefully some looking about on vagcom this weekend will confirm this.

Having a further look around the car, it also has solid engine mounts and a power flex anti lift kit, which is an added bonus!

So, bit of sh*t evening on Friday, but thankfully rectified now.

When I bought the car, I noticed a wee bit of wheel wobble at 70 miles an hour, put this down to wheels needing balanced and thought nothing more. On Friday night, I was off to see a pal in Huntly, so filled up and thought I would check the tyre pressures - fronts down at 1.5 Bar . Filled them up and went on my way, but something didnt feel right at all. Drove like a Granny to see my pal Kris in Banchory, to be greeted with this:

Holy sh*t! With the right pressure in them, it made the deformity really bad and probably why such a low pressure was in them! Managed to pick up a pair of cheap but high tread tyres from a pal, so fitted them today and put the Pilot Sport 3's from the back onto the front - good news is that they look pretty new too. The rears will get replaced when I am back from India next month.

Managed to give it a quick wash too, and took some snaps. The photos make the paint look better than it is.

Nothing much to update.

1.The interior is in lots of bits away for carbon work.
2. Got a chip in the windscreen sorted
3. Got my plates on. Ends up it has a US front grill which is cool.

Strangely, my Dad was offered this car in early 2015 as a p/x for his A3 3.2 Sline. Going by the details Dad has, it also has a stage 1 remap.

My pal Andrew kindly took some photos took which came out really well.

Looks great Greg, it was my younger brothers Clio 182 you bought.

When he had his Clio I had a 172 Cup but sold that on and back in a MK5 myself.

Looking forward to the updates.

Cheers J

Haha I went mk5 GTI with hybrid turbo, your Bro's 182, a Clio 200 Cup and into the edition 30.

I would love another 182/200 as a weekend car. As a daily driver it was hard going!

No worries at all. Will have another wee update this weekend.

Your car looks to be a very clean base to start having fun with.
