« on: May 30, 2017, 05:06:34 pm »
Hi guys have a standard 06 mk5 gti which is in the garage as the turbos leaking and which he reckons it il need either sent away and rebuilt or possibly a new one. Question is will I up grade now as saying it's in the garage already? Possibly a k04 or hybrid? Any suggestions will be appreciated! Manchester based also

What about a low mileage ko3 replacement?
Without traction power is nothing!

You can get k03 hybrid because if you get the k04 you have to change a few things

What are the benefits of the hybrid k03? Can you get more power from it or what?

Factor in the cost of a custom remap and lots of hardware upgrades if you're planning on upgrading the turbo.

You can swap just the turbo and injectors, get a map to suit, and effectively end up with a Stage 1 ed30. But it'd be a much nicer beast with some supporting mods.

Either way, it won't be as simple/affordable as 'swap turbo, job done'.
