P0100 Fault code

Hi All,

Need some advice, was out a long drive today and half way home my engine management light popped up. Stopped the car for 10 minutes and restarted to see if this would reset it but no joy.

Plugged the scanner into the car and got the P0100 code, maf or vaf a circuit malfunction. Plan is to order a new MAF sensor however seeking advice to see if the car is safe to drive until I replace the part?

EML is yellow I believe, it's usually RED you need to stop as soon as possible. YELLOW isn't usually too much of an issue. Is there any change in the way it drives?

EML is yellow I believe, it's usually RED you need to stop as soon as possible. YELLOW isn't usually too much of an issue. Is there any change in the way it drives?
Car drove absolutely fine, light was on for around 30 miles on the way home. Started the car this morning for the first time and the light is off, don't know of its an intermittent issue but im definetly changing the MAF sensor to be on the safe side.

Does anyone know the best place to get a new sensor? Am I best just buying from VW

It's not a tough job. Luckily it's not one of those things that require you to strip loads down just to gain access! Find a decent guide and you'll be fine.

Piece of piss.  Undo 2 screws, drop new one in.  Done.

As AJP said, only VW for the MAF.  In fact ALL critical engine sensors and components like MAFs, crank/cam sensors, injectors etc should be bought from a dealer.  Not worth buying fake crap off ebay and risk and engine meltdown.
