Metal Shift bracket
« on: June 08, 2017, 03:05:14 pm »
Anyone tried this on their manual MK5?  https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-car/audi/a3-8l/apr-solid-shifter-cable-bracket-6-speed-manual-transmission/

Just trying to tighten up the shift a bit!

You can just buy the metal bushings. Contact AKS Tuning, I'm sure they sell them, or know what to buy.

I bought some metal bushings for my GT Sport from 42 Draft Designs: http://www.42draftdesigns.com/.

APR having a laugh once again when it comes to pricing.  :signLOL:

As Shoduchi says.....contact AKS for their bracket. I had one on my old Eddy for years (along with Draft Design bushes and also changed both shifters to short shifters) and really made a difference when combined with everything else to tighten up the throw. All info on parts in my build thread.....page 1 I think.

I can't see that bracket making any difference at all.... The solid shift bushes and the AKS brackets are your best bet - both are significantly cheaper than APRs offering..... which is obscene for what it actually costs to CNC something like that

Cheers guys.  I couldn't see a bracket on AKS's site, just the metal bushes.

I'm going there in July anyway, so I'll grab some brackets and bushes then!

The problem is the plastic bracket flexes when it gets hot, so a metal one would work better.

As for APR's pricing.....it's hilarious seeing Arin's replies on numerous forums.  They spam all of the forums with new products and the first thing anyone mentions is the pricing, but they're typical politicians and avoid answering direct questions.  I'm amazed they are still in business to be honest!

If you read the US Facebook groups about their shocking customer service and quality of their products, false advertising and so on... it really is hilarious..... The one from the other day was funny.... They advertise a cast downpipe for the Mk7 MQB platform.... and release a downpipe with multiple cast bends welded together.... lots of people less than impressed.

They're a very shady company.  They are like Apple, they just know how to produce glossy adverts with eloquent wording to suck people in.  If you google them, there's a big discussion on a US forum about them filing for bankruptcy and I think were also being sued for something, can't remember what though.  They used to plough their money into race cars, private jets to attend events and so on and so forth.....whilst basically selling Chinese stuff as premium.  And I'll put money on their software being a copy of someone else's.....with a giant tax added on top.

I have their cast downpipe and sports cat on my ED30.  Can't complain about the fit, but the cat is utterly useless and the cast 'stainless' is rust spotting already.  Cheapest Chinese stainless known to man I suspect.
