Mk5 gti revo stage one this month, what to expect
« on: June 06, 2017, 06:51:22 pm »
Evening
After 5 months of ownership with a 18 month lay off from my mk5 R32,I've got my 2005 mk5 gti all correct and running spot-on.
Usual stuff done, oil filter, cam follower changed,FULL service etc etc (new brakes around) and a ITG panel filter fitted. Few other things to do,wheels and a machine polish, few bit of interior to tidy up (dreaded rubbery plastic)
Car off for a Revo remap (stage one) this coming Monday,no mods other above mentioned ITG filter.
What to expect..is my question really? Thanks gents & ladys

Expect a car that feels as awesome to drive as it should have done from day one

240-250bhp and 280-300lb/ft. Those are typical peak figures for any decent Stage 1 k03 car.

The real story is the power delivery and 'area under the curve'.

You probably won't gain much from the panel filter, but it won't be any worse than the OEM paper filter.

Enjoy it.

I would buy an SPS switch as well, otherwise you will lose your power if you ever disconnect / replace the battery.

It's a great map.  It may not make Facebook pleasing peak numbers, but it's one of the best, if not the best drivability maps out there.  Drives exactly like standard, except  a lot faster!

It'll totally transform the car... The car will pick up and go from 3k rpm and pull hard instead of needing to be revved and feeling gutless until around 5k rpm as they do standard. I remember when I first had my stage 1 settings put on mine I had the biggest grin all the way home..... enjoy  :happy2:

It does completely change the cars drivability!
Standard it just feels restricted and feels like it takes ages to even get an ounce of oomph!

After the stage 1, the drive back from inters was such a delight! The power was just there and the feeling it is thirsting for more!!

It's partly because they keep the factory pedal translation map.  A lot of other tuners change it to a 1:1 ratio and I personally hate it.

I didn't know my ED30 had a Revo Stage 1 on it when I bought it, but the reason I bought the car was because of the map!  I've had a custom map done since and although it makes high numbers, it doesn't drive as nice as the Revo map.

Get the newest one i.e. an SPS from anywhere you can find one - post in here if unsure. They can be had for half the RRP or even less if you look around.  All you need is a USB cable and a laptop to set it up how you like

I'm also going for a stage 1 Revo this month can't wait. I changed the diverter valve in preparation today, it had obviously never been done because the difference that has made alone is unbelievable.

Anyone experiencing clutch slip after going stage 1?

Clutch slip can happen at any stage of tune... its a consumable part at the end of the day. If your clutch is on its way out and you throw a Stage 1 map on there with an extra 50lbft+ of torque to deal with, then you'll likely finish it off pretty quickly

Im toying with the idea of Stage 1 and the clutch is still tight and strong with absolutely no slip in any gear or acceleration however it would turn into an expensive day if the map killed it in short order!
