Idle problems
« on: June 13, 2017, 06:27:34 am »
Hi,

New to mk5's, had a gti around 3 weeks and have developed a problem already  I seem to have an intermittent problem with the car idling, & after hunting through google came up with multiple things so thought it was best to ask. My revs where raising and dropping to around 500 and then recovering without me touching anything, I Replaced the pcv valve hoping this would sort it. Replaced it and it seems to have cured the revving but I am still sometimes getting the drop to 500 then the recovery to normal revs. When this happens I can hear a valve of some sort 'clicking' like opening, then I can hear it shutting again and this is the point that the revs stop dropping and the idle recovers. Any ideas on what I need to replace?
Thanks in advance  :happy2:

Edit:
Seems to do it more when I dip the clutch after being below 1500 revs, anything above that seems to be fine?
