Hi guys was just messing about trying some launches, (private road lol) just curious to see what everyone's getting? I was averaging 6.6 tho not very scientifically measured, manufactures claim 6.8? Tho it definitely seems faster than that. Ive a dsg and it flys up to 30mph then has a sluggish change then up to 60, if that was a faster chance I think it could do a lot better?? Mine is standard by the way, have some mods planned to get to stage 2 so just trying for some before and after data

0-60 times are so 1990's

Plus when you are mapped it's a lot harder to get a good launch in a fwd car so running pulls are better. E.g.. a 20-80mph run.

I noticed people don't like to talk much about 0-60 times. The argument is usually about "how it feels to drive, handling, etc." being more important. I agree with the argument. However for people like me for example, the GTI is my first "fast" car. Mine is completely stock and off course I would like to check what is the 0-60. I just don't have the right equipment and cannot find a proper straight line with a decent tarmac. Anyway, I tried to time it once using the Torque app that reads the information from ECU and I was getting inconsistent times. Sometimes 6.8, 6.5. Sometimes 8.0, 7.4. It's a bit difficult to get the power down without losing a few seconds due to tyre spin. One time it showed 5.6s but this just shows that I need the right equipment to time it correctly.

Just remember most manufacturers performance figures are quoted in kph, so the quoted 0-60 mph figure is actually for 0-62 mph (which is 0-100 kph) so you can deduct around 0.3 sec for a true 0-60.
I remember VW Driver magazine recorded a 6.6 sec 0-60 back when these were first launched, that was for a manual.
