Intake Manifold Runner Control P3138 fault

Hello,

Give the car a scan on VAGcom tonight. The only fault that showed up was Intake Manifold Runner Control P3138

I had a wee look on here and did a reset on block 142 Intake Manifold runner from the ross-tech website. I then re-scanned the car and the fault was still there.

The car feels and goes great still but how can I fix this problem? what does this mean?

Had this problem on my old Edition 30 only thing after trying to get it calibrated was it came back again, there was a slight loss in power. Had to replace the entire part which is a pain in the backside to fit.

A new manifold is about 400quid alone. Plus a new gasket and injector fitting kits. Then labour ontop of that if your not doing the work yourself

Please correct me if I am wrong but I have found this on eBay, is this what I need?

its looks correct but no telling that 1 isnt knackered too.

Just got quoted £360 from TPS :(

Would it be worth checking any sensors that may have thrown the fault up first??

The sensors are part of the manifold (cant be removed)
usual problems is the sensors fail or the runner flaps fail and dont open properly.

That fault code could be caused by the motor, the linkage or the actual runner flap assembly itself.... A new manifold MAY NOT fix the issue

Fit an RFD, bin off the motor.... job done and headache gone permanently....

Sorry what's an RFD? Do you have a link to how I can get one/how it works? Cost? Etc thanks

The car seems to still be going really well so surly it can't be too serious

RFD=Runner Flap Delete. Have a look on the forum or on internet.

I thought my car was running fine until a faulty manifold motor was replaced. After that I thought: wow... those flaps DO make a difference in performance if they are not working correctly. Unfortunately my manifold developed another problem but not sure what it is yet. So far the car is running "fine".

Not really interested in the RFD...especially since you have to change/tweed maps too.

If I need to I will just order a new one from tps. I have cleared the code and done a basic reset again. I will check again in another 50 so miles.

I really don't think it is effecting the cars performance. It still has the same punch as I can't remember.
