Bleeding front brakes and topping up fluid?
« on: July 04, 2017, 09:59:16 am »
Hi. I plan on fitting my TTRS setup on the weekend. On my past cars i basically fitted the new calipers, then got a friend to pump the peddle and i bled the calipers and kept the fluid topped up. I just thought i would have a quick search on here before the weekend to see if there is anything different with golf and low and behold it looks like it may be a bit more involving than normal.

I'm not bleeding the whole system just the fronts. So will i have to plug the car into VCDS? or can i just do the normal pump the peddle and crack the bleed nipples a few times till the air is gone and keep the reservoir topped up? Last question, can i just use any Dot 4 as a top up? Thanks again Adam

Last question, can i just use any Dot 4 as a top up? Use OEM VW stuff

I prefer ATE SL.6 DOT4 for normal use (smoother and faster ABS pumping) and Motul RBF600/RBF660 or Castrol SRF for track use. ATE SL.6 is cheap enough.
