Door speakers and amps
« on: July 03, 2017, 02:14:18 pm »
Anyone know how to wire up a four channel amp to my latest pioneer stereo with pre outs without having to feed loads of wires into the door grommets like the old days?.

Thanks

The neatest way is to connect the outputs from the amp to the radio harness speaker wires.  You'll need to snip the wires from the multiplug first, but leave them long enough to rejoin if you go back to standard.

This is of course assuming the OEM stereo just outputs a full range signal x 4 and passive crossovers on the speakers do the filtering.

You don't necessarily need those big crossovers that come with aftermarket speakers.   They are tuned for the speakers for sure, but in the past where there's been space issues and for the sake of simplicity, I simply put a 3.3 or 4.7uf capacitor on the tweeter.  The bass speakers got the full range.  Sounded better than the bulky crossovers to my ears as well.

This is a good shout actually because I've been thinking along the same lines and don't want to run wires through or fit crossovers.

Hi mate, I've taken the wires off the pioneer stereo plug connectors so part the way there, I'm going to run them straight to the Amp input which will be situated in the boot and from there take the wiring back up to the back of the radio and wire them to the car harness and thinking that should be fine. It's been a good 17 years since I've done this kind of thing and now remembering how to do it
Do we have amps like the Audi?, I'm sure we don't as it's a cheaper version Vag car  :signLOL:
I'm not going to snip the wires as I know how to pull them out without damaging the wiring.

Thanks for the reply  :drinking:
