New clutch and DMF which one???

If your car is a 2008 gti you want the LUK DMF to suit engine code : BWA

Get a LUK dual mass flywheel as Alex has already said that's whats fitted to your car from the factory ( mkv gti yes ? )

there is 2 different ones online for my car? one with a friction plate and one without? Also 3 different clutch's listed , Just trying to work out which ones is correct?

If you narrow down your search and put GTI in the carparts4less website you get two clutches to choose from. You have a BWA engine so it's the 195 quid one you need.

Just had my timing chain and tensioner done at my local specialist and asked him for a price for a DMF and oem clutch. £640 for a oem dmf and £650 for a genuine clutch. U nearly fell over. That can't be right can it?

Mastertec in Poole,£396inc and it has quietened it down but to be honest the injectors make the most bloody noise. It was a precaution thing for me prior to re mapping in September:happy2:

Cheers - someone else told me that the injectors are noisey, making it difficult to discern exactly where the rattle is coming from. Mine not too bad at the moment, but you do get quite paranoid with the horror stories.

The impression I got from Terry at Mastertec was a why are you getting this done sort of thing so I agree. The problem is you only hear about the bad experiences and faults from people and it makes you a bit paranoid. I would wait until it gets noisy and if at anytime you want to compare it let me know and we can hook up.

Whisper quiet is pushing it for these engines, but a rattle is a rattle, and injector tick is a tick...... very easy to distinguish.

A worn chain can be heard inside the car with the windows up and the hvac turned off.  You can't hear the injectors or HPFP in the car.

Whisper quiet it is not. To be honest I struggle to distinguish what noise is what because as you said these engines are a tad noisy. When in the car the main noise I can hear when cold is the clutch bearing now and again. Sounds a bit like the chain in my opinion. I bow down to your knowledge about these cars Pudding and your posts have taught me quite a bit bud.

The cars going nowhere now as I've invested to much cash in it now and may as well see where it goes. I think I will end up buying another car for a daily and keep the Golf long term.
