Wheel Bearing Price
« on: July 30, 2017, 04:21:52 pm »
I have a MK5 GTI... just wondering what's the going rate on a wheel bearing and labour?

My rear left has gone which is also I believe causing my DSG to upshift at higher gears than normal and then downshift from 6th to 4th a lot in drive

If anyone knows the part numbers that would be great

Surely that wouldn't be wheel bearing as it's a bearing isn't electrical. Maybe and sensor or wheel speed sensor if you suspect it's to do with the dsg.

Hi mate

Got it checked yesterday on vagcom.. isn't the ABS sensor as my ABS sensor/tyre sensor/traction lights are coming on the dash intermittently.

Garage said my rear left wheel is recording double the speed than the other 3. Said it's because that's the kerb side and picks up the most s**t

Yeah dodgy ABS speed sensor readings can play havoc with DSG.

The bearing is about £130 from VW, and they're available in 2 sizes. 30mm or 32mm.  Apparently the dealer can't tell you which size you need, but I got lucky with mine and the one they ordered was the right one.  Labour is about an hour.

£90 or so quid from ECP dude. SNR wheel bearing I think is the one I got and they've been fine.
Takes about 45 mins to fit, probably quicker than that if you can get it on a ramp to make access easier to the bolts.
