Seatbelt Sensor

Hey guys.


I've had an issue with my passenger seatbelt sensor for a few months now. It's slowly getting worse. Basically whenever someone is in the set with their belt buckled. Every single turn on the road it starts flashing and beeping. To stop it the passenger needs to push he seatbelt holder down. It starts up seconds to minutes later. Which is a killer on long journeys!

I've had a look and I have 2 plugs under the seat. I'm wondering which one I need to unplug to disconnect the sensor. I've had it confirmed that it doesn't affect the airbag sensor as the seat believes someone is always in the seat? So the airbag will still deploy correctly?
Is this correct?

The 1st is a blue plug that is nearer the left hand side of the seat nearer the front of the seat.
The 2nd is a black plug that is nearer the right hand side/middle of the seat nearer the back of the seat.

I assume by the direction of the wires it is the black plug near the rear but, I want to double check prior to messing about with it any further.

I'm fairly sure you can disable the passenger seat belt sensor via VCDS, not a fix per se but all the same

If you disconnect the plug you'll have a warning light on the dash permanently

See in the meantime, I can live with the light being on constantly as long as the beeping stops. Do you know which plug is the right one?

You wont get a warning light if you disconnect, I had my passenger one disconnected with no issues. But its best to disable with VCDS, its just a matter of unchecking a box....

Just to confirm. Whether I get it done via VCDS or the physical plug, will the airbag still function as normal?

Hi I had this problem in my old MK6 for months, drove me absolutely mad. Had to replace the whole seatbelt anchor unit which wasn't too bad.

I had this issue on my mkv GTi there is a wiring loom under the seat consisting of two looms a 3 and a 2 wire, the three wire is the airbag one so leave it alone, the 2 wire one is the seatbelt sensor - unplug the 2 wire mated connector and job done, no annoying seatbelt noise - ever.

I had mine switched off via VCDS this weekend, it was starting to annoy me.

Can this be done without removing the seat? It looks pretty tight.
